Question 5, How did you attract/address your audience?
My magazine has the features that a real magazine would have to a certain extent, just without the professional standard. The design of my magazine is of a typical standard, but the features on the cover such as the image, masthead and cover lines could help to persuade the target audience to buy my magazine. This is because my magazine is specific and eye-catching. One way I think I attracted the target audience is my models and the design i used for my music magazine. The models are roughly around the same age as the target audience which would give the audience a better understanding and relate to my models. Also, because I have two models male and a female with their individual personalities and characteristic within the way the are dressed and portrayed which may appeal to both sex and how the audience can connect with them, which they are on the contents page. Additionally, the clothes that my models are wearing represent the style of genre that they are in which is Hip Hop rap.
Another way I attracted my audience is be concentrating on mainstream Hip Hop in Britain and America, I done this by mentioning existing music artist in my cover lines and contents page. I also used the cover line “ Something New” this is a certain way of attracting my audience to buy my product because its telling people that its new, fresh and filed with talent. Therefore people would buy it and find out for there self. Similarly, I done a competition in the cover lines which people can enter and chose there favorite artist, this allows the audience to feel a sense of belonging and importance. In addition i used a BlackBerry bar code, this means that the audience will see it an assume that the magazine is good quality and is focusing at a specific target audience because a lot of people have BlackBerry smart phones.
Additionally, I used different types of fonts that you wouldn't normally see on music magazines, I done this because I wanted my music magazine to be unique in its own way and stand out among other magazines and appeal to the audience more so they would try something new which they might like. The fonts are eye-catching and appeal to people more than original magazines do.
I also used a colour scheme to attract my audience. The main colours used on my magazine are black, white and red, this is because in Hip Hop those colours relate to the type of music produced by Hip Hop artists; such as up beat catchy remedies that links with the colour scheme and excitement with the colour red. The colours used appeal to both sex male and female which wouldn't leave anyone out and make them feel isolated so I targeted both sex and used a range of basic but very stereotypical colours.
Finally, my contents page is very simple and easy to read which may help the audience get to what they want to find easily. Is organised simply and you can see the main image clearly.
