Resit: Textual analysis, magazine front cover

Denotation:
we can see a man with a black top on and a black hat which matches the background which is also black. We can also see different colours used for the masthead and the tag line but it does look profesional. Also, the fonts used are different because the importance of them and to stand out.

Connotations:
The reason for him wearing the black hat and top could be to portray the stereotypical look of an hip hop artist, whom normally have hats on with jewellery and so does he. This could mean that he's showing off for the magazine or just showing what he is really like, a music lover and n traditional hip hop artist.

Mise-en-scene:
props- there are no props in this magazine.
Costume- h's wearing a plain black top with a matching black hat with some sort of logo on it.
Non verbal communication- from the way he is positioned you can tell that he looks very relaxed with no pressur on him, but  by looking at his face you can see that he looks very serious and concentrated.

Setting:
The setting is very plain, the background is just plain black wich could of been done purposly to put all the attention on the main image.

Lighting:
The lighting is all round, the lighting is more effective on the main image and you can see the artists face very clear.
